Lady Luh – Lisa Mesbur

Her alter ego is Rose and she’s a 70’s hostess who serves deliciously Moroccan inspired hors d’oeuvres and quaaludes. Everybody wants to go to her party! The only thing better than Lisa’s hair and her curves, is her imagination. Thanks for playing dress up with us.

What do you love most about Spring?    Forsythia blooming, the smell of rain, riding my bike, and dresses worn with bare legs (finally!).
What is your most cherished vintage piece?  My grandmother’s Taxco Mexican silver swan necklace from the 40s.
The perfect outfit?   A 70s-does-40s floral dress with flutter sleeves and a cinched waist, paired with clogs or chunky heels and big gold hoop earrings.
What is the most ridiculous thing you have ever purchased?   A 60s psychedelic polyester jumpsuit that zips up the front and has huge belled legs. Pure insanity.
If you were ice cream what flavour would you be?   Dulce de leche or coffee.
If you could have a slumber party with three people who would it be?   Gertrude Stein, Aline Kominsky Crumb and Maira Kalman.
Music that makes you blue?   Regina Spektor. Boo hoo.
Music that tickles you pink?   San Francisco 70s soul superstar Darondo.
The last book you read?   Absurdistan by Gary Shteyngart.
What makes your heart melt?  Snuggling with my 7 year old in bed with the night light on.
Who in your life should be wearing a superhero cape?   My dear friend Attiya Khan, whose dedication to fighting violence against women inspires me greatly.
In five years from now you will be playing at least one Dr. John song decently on the piano, doing handstands with ease, and ageing quasi-gracefully. At least, that’s the plan.
