Comeback Couture

Do you believe in The Laws of Attraction?  I’m kind of half in, half out, but here’s a funny story, that definitely left me wondering.

Last year I was invited by a couple of brands to do collaborations. After the initial glow of being chosen wore off, I realized they just weren’t the right fit. It was hard to walk away, and I definitely second guessed after the fact.

So, Wendell asked me, “Well then who do you want to collaborate with? Which brands are your jam?” I laughed and said, without hesitation, “Value Village!”

I can honestly say that throughout my design career Value Village has always been my happy place.  I have been perfecting the art of the find there since I was just a baby designer. VV is always on trend because thrift stock always has such a huge influence on fashion.  Plus, I can always go there to find that unique, vintage coup de grace that takes my designs to the next level, while keeping me in the black. Designing on Baroness von Sketch, I would say I spent at least forty percent of our wardrobe budget at VV!

So, when I got the call from …. Value Village (yes it was a call, so retro!), I really and truly felt like I had manifested!

They were inviting me to consult on a new venture, a curated section called, Comeback Couture. Hello, match made in heaven. They had me at Value Village.

Now I know that not everyone gets off on thrifting like I do. So, for all the people who have told me they are intimidated by thrifting or are frustrated that they can never find what they are looking for, this is for you!

There are six themes that inform the collection based on current and forecasted trends, so you don’t have to go searching, it’s all pulled together for you. I’m doing all the work, you just have to show up.

It’s exclusively available at the Rogers Road location at the moment, and well worth the voyage, if I do say so myself. Running January 10th to February 23rd. Don’t miss it!

While working away in the store I scored this AH-mazing black wool, Holt Renfrew jacket from what I think is the late 80s/early 90s. It was missing a few buttons, but the previous owner (Goddess bless her soul), left them in the pockets! Are you dying? It’s pretty damn great. I also snagged this brief case the day before. I changed the strap and added some patches and now I’m a legit business lady.

Happy Thrifting!
